Charles Street is the main thoroughfare running north through Baltimore. It divides East from West Baltimore. This hike takes you from the Inner Harbor, through downtown and then into the Mount Vernon and Midtown Neighborhoods. After leaving the modern office towers you enter an area of grand nineteenth century townhouses. This is where Baltimore's Gilded Age gentry resided and is now a culturally rich downtown environ. Mile 0 - Begin at the Baltimore Visitor's Center. Take Conway Street behind the center by crossing Light Street. Go one block to Charles Street Mile .20 - Take a right on Charles Street and head north Mile 1.1 - Washington Monument...Continue north on Charles Street
Washington D.C. version by half a century. You can climb up the monument and enjoy some stunning views of downtown. Also on Mount Vernon Square are the Walters Art Museum and Peabody Conservatory of Music Mile 1.45 - Right on Chase Street at the Belvedere condominium
